What do you bid with this hand after partner opens 1  in 3rd seat.

1N, 2N and 2C are all options. However, keeping in mind that 3rd seat opening could be light with lead directional intent, 2N could be high. On the other hand, bidding 1N with a decent six card suit and 10 HCP is somewhat of an underbid. Jaggy made the right choice of 2  – a perfect description of passed hand.

Unfortunately there were 8 tricks available in NT and 9 in clubs… Not a good score when partner passed it out.

However, we bid a good NT slam on next hand, and that more than made up the deficit for previous board.

Here’s the hand for reference.
