In Basketball, they say Size matters, in Bridge – Intelligence combined with wit matters ! Currently 67, I took a break for 8-9 years due personal commitments, now restarted for about a year. A long bridge journey from 1972 began with Jaggy for about 15 years initially then with several renowned players like Anil Padhye, Anand Mehta, Subhash Gupta to name a few, now partnering Anal Shah. Have always played different versions of Precision at tournament level which have been developed/modified in the different partnerships. Was also very fond of and had developed a forcing pass system which I played for a few rounds in the world Pairs final with Jaggy in Miami, while it was allowed.

A long list to summarize:

  • Represented India in 5 Bermuda Bowls, 5 World Bridge Olympiads/ World Mind games and played in about 9 Rosemblum championships. Also represented India in several BFAME Championships and won many.
  • Semi finals at 1988 World Bridge Team Olympiad in Venice.
  • Finished in Top Ten of World Pairs with Jaggy in 1986 at Miami
  • Finished 12th in European Pairs Final in Menton, France playing with Anil out of a field of 52 top pairs. In fact we were leading after 2 sets of the final out of 4 sets, the event was won by Meckwell.
  • At National Events won several events including atleast 5 Ruias, 1 Holkar Pairs (With Anil), and many Singhania’s (Board a Match), Masters and couple of Par Championships.
