Is there a case by N to raise to 6? I thought not, I have already overstated my hand by bidding 3 . Need a lot to make slam. And opponents bidding upto 5 level vulnerable – with what seems to be very little values, I’m likely to run into bad breaks.

Is there a case for south to bid 6? or make a forcing pass? Again, only 3 trumps. And while unlikely, a heart honor with pd is not impossible.

As it happens – K is singleton onside, and diamonds are behaving. So I was able to make 13 tricks. Those who bid the slam reaped the dividend. But for us this was still worth 54%

The two average scores did nothing to change the positions.

Thank you Sandeep. The hands and the problems faced come alive with your narrations. Thinking of the field and par actions and still getting the rough end. Tough.
Very instructive and enlightening thought processes in the ozone layer of bridge.
Let this be the 1st of many chapters to come in a great book !
    All the best.
