Partner leads Q, you put up the Ace, and declarer drops the king.

Seems declarer has a singleton spade, and if that king is a true card, he has 11 red cards. Whatever tricks partner has in red suits can’t go away.

However, I think one has to atleast consider the possibility that partner led a singleton, and declarer dropped the king from KJT8. Club return wasn’t the winning defence on actual hand. East returned a diamond and Jaggy easily wrapped up 11 tricks. CK was a true card, a singleton. The problem was the overcall. It was based on a 4 card suit. East needed t return a spade before DA gets knocked out.

A defensive slip on the next hand allowed me to make an overtrick in 1NT for a 90% score. However, Uttam and Animesh immediately took it back by bidding an excellent slam that wasn’t found by most of the field

Board 1. Partner rates to be 5440 and is not likely to pass a responsive dbl, so a better approach is to make a responsive dbl and raise partner’s bid to the appropriate level. You may get to grand if partner bids 3S or 4C. Over 4D stay conservative with 4S or bid 5N. Maybe partner can bid 6D with a good dia suit and it may be best.

I missed adding that sometimes partner will be 3055 and may jump to 4N which will also get you to the best strain.

Keep the series going. Both fun and educational.
