Brain fade
Tempted to believe Steve smith … for it gives a simple explanation of the most common problem in bridge ; I ref to ” lost count of the dia suit..” , ” missed the spade spot “..or even ” the card slipped out of my hand”.. etc
the enigma of brain fade is it spares no one – expert or novice, young or old.. ; worse , it occurs to the same player again and again … and again !
Been trying to get at the root of this evil for some time – my final conclusion is ” one should be keen to win but not worry about results of the boards that you are playing in the here and now ” to escape this ! Keenness to win generates positive energy improving concentration but ” anxiety ” of results does the opposite !
Any views on this interesting paradox that represents a rich source of imps …. to opponents ?
