Transfers are also being used when partner opens 1M and RHO doubles for T/O – you may have following hands –

  • Some non descript hand with or without values which doesn’t warrant any immediate bid
  • Any Balanced hand with 10+ points with NO FIT and suggest penalty oriented hand OR a limit raise or better with 3 trumps.
  • May have a good long suit of your own – EITHER to play in that suit OR to INVITE later OR show a delayed FIT with partner at appropriate level ( FIT Showing bid )
  • May have a balanced LIMIT RAISE or Game Values ( mostly 4+ trumps )
  • May have a LIMIT or Game values raise with a specified splinter ( MINI/MIDI splinter )
  • May have a GOOD 3/4 card simple RAISE ( 7-10 points )
  • May have a POOR raise hand ( 3/4 to 5/6 points )
  • May have good 5/6 card suit and a 4-card trump and slam may make – at most on a finesse
