Benefits of Transfer and Retransfer Bids

Today the bidding has become fairly artistic and scientific . Players can find actual distributions and High cards and arrive at OPTIMAL contracts. 

Lets see as an example , how it works over MULTI 2D openings – showing some Weak Major ( 2H or 2S ).

Sitting over – you may have following types of hand –

• Some non descript hand with or without many high cards
• You may want to make a T/O double if you knew the Major
• You may have a single suit overcall
• You may have a balanced NT hand ( range like 15-17 ) . Some partnerships like to DOUBLE for Take out with any 13/14+ hand but it doesn’t work as well when opponents create NUISANCE because responder does not know what you have .
• You may have One long Minor along with other Minor or one Major suit ( 5-4, 6-4 type ) but not suitable enough to make a T/O double
• You may have a Major and Minor combination with LONGER or Equal Major
• You may have stronger balanced hand ( 18-20 type )
• You may have a gambling 3NT type hand with some Major stoppers and a long running suit
